Occupational Health has never been more important. Last week was #Occupationalhealthawareness week which aimed to raise awareness and understanding of the benefits of occupational health.
The Society of Occupational Medicine provided some free resources and shared some interesting guest blogs. Here are our favourite articles from the week that we recommend you check out:
- How Occupational Health and Hygiene can work together. Highlighting that more collaboration is needed between the disciplines where “direct communication between the two will allow for a far better understanding of the bigger picture and a greater proactive rather than reactive approach to workplace health and safety”.
- Why Occupational Health must innovate to meet new workplace health and wellbeing challenges. Dr Kevin Bailey from Health Management stated, “No longer simply a matter of preventing accidents and occupational illnesses, workplace health has now expanded to encompass a broader definition of workplace wellness, in which the outcome is not merely the absence of disease, but a balanced state of physical and mental harmony”.
- Long Covid and Mental Health a priority for workplace health. With the NHS under continuing pressure, occupational health (OH) experts have called on businesses to rethink how they tackle Long COVID and mental health issues in the workplace.
Whilst it was an opportunity to raise awareness it was also great to see the community of people who are so passionate about improving workplace health for all.
